Overview

Built for Buildings That
Can't Slow Down.

Flooring removal is the job that sets up everything that comes after it. Done wrong — carpet pad staples left in the subfloor, mastic scraped to a rough surface, tile chisel-popped and left with a cratered slab — the new floor install inherits every one of those problems. ValorCraft handles removal as a first-class scope: carpet and tack strip out clean, staples pulled or driven flush, tile removed without gouging the slab, adhesive scraped or encapsulated to a bondable surface, and all debris loaded and hauled off site. When we leave, the substrate is ready — not almost ready.

  • Carpet, pad, and tack strip removed and hauled — staples pulled or driven flush before we leave
  • Tile removed without unnecessary slab damage — grout and thinset ground or scarified to a flat surface
  • Cutback adhesive and mastic addressed — scraped, ground, or encapsulated per the new product spec
  • Substrate condition report included — so the install crew knows what they're working with before day one

What's Included

Full Commercial Scope —
Demo To Punch List.

One contract, one crew. Substrate prep, install, transitions, and base — everything that touches the floor stays under our scope.

  • Carpet & Pad Removal

Carpet cut, rolled, and loaded out; pad stripped; tack strip pulled; staples removed or driven flush so nothing telegraphs through new flooring or tears a sanding belt.

  • Vinyl & Sheet Flooring Removal

Sheet vinyl and old resilient tile scored, pulled, and hauled — adhesive residue and substrate condition assessed for the new install requirement before we close out.

  • Tile Demolition

Ceramic, porcelain, and stone tile chipped or floor-chisel removed — slab or subfloor assessed for damage, thinset bed ground flat to a bondable surface for the new installation.

  • Hardwood Removal

Nail-down or glue-down hardwood pried up and loaded out — subfloor checked for protruding fasteners, adhesive, and any damage from the hardwood removal before the new floor starts.

  • Laminate & Floating Floor Demo

Laminate, LVP, and floating floor panels removed; underlayment pulled; subfloor swept and assessed for staples, adhesive bleed-through, or subfloor damage before re-install.

  • Mastic & Adhesive Removal

Cutback adhesive (black mastic) scraped or mechanically removed; other legacy adhesives ground or skim-coated to a level, bondable surface per the new floor product's adhesive requirement.

  • Debris Haul-Off

All demolished material loaded into our trailer or dumpster and hauled off site — no debris left for you to deal with, no third-party hauler required.

Why ValorCraft

The Commercial Standard
PMs Keep Calling Back.

Veteran-owned discipline applied to commercial flooring — clean schedules, accurate scopes, and crews that close out the punch list the first time.

  • Substrate Left Ready

We don't stop at getting the old floor out — we leave the substrate in a condition the install crew can actually work from. Staples out, adhesive addressed, slab flat.

  • Substrate Condition Report

After removal, we document what we found: moisture spots, delaminated subfloor panels, slab cracks, high spots — so the new floor quote accounts for real prep, not assumptions.

  • Hazard Awareness

Legacy resilient flooring installed before 1980 may contain asbestos-containing materials. We identify suspect materials during scope and direct you to a certified abatement contractor before demo begins — we don't demo what we haven't cleared.

  • No Third-Party Haulers

We haul our own debris. No scheduling a separate dumpster, no debris sitting in the driveway for a week waiting on pickup.

  • In-House Crews

Same crew for demo and install when scoped together — no handoff between a demo sub and an install sub who've never communicated about what was under the old floor.

  • Veteran-Owned Reliability

We show up on demo day, work clean, and leave the space in better condition than we found it — not worse.

Our Process

Five Steps. No Surprises.
Schedules That Hold.

The same process whether it's one suite or one hundred — clear scope, clean prep, phased installs, and a closed punch list.

  1. 01

    Pre-Demo Walk & Asbestos Screen

We walk the space, confirm the materials being removed, note any suspect legacy resilient flooring for asbestos screening, and document the substrate type and condition before demo begins.

  2. 02

    Furniture & Fixture Prep

Furniture cleared from demo areas (your responsibility unless quoted otherwise), appliances and toilet disconnects confirmed as completed before demo crew mobilizes.

  3. 03

    Demolition

Existing flooring removed layer by layer — carpet and pad, then tack strip, then adhesive or thinset as applicable — working the substrate to the condition required by the new installation.

  4. 04

    Substrate Assessment

Subfloor or slab inspected for damage, moisture staining, protruding fasteners, and flatness after demo is complete — and any required repairs called out before the install crew mobilizes.

  5. 05

    Debris Haul-Off

All demolished material loaded and hauled off site same day as demo — space left swept and ready for substrate prep or direct install.

Common Questions

Answers
Before You Ask.

What if the old flooring might contain asbestos?

Resilient flooring — vinyl tile, sheet vinyl, and some adhesives — installed before approximately 1980 may contain asbestos. We identify suspect materials during the pre-demo walk and will not begin removal until a certified asbestos inspector has tested and cleared the material. We can refer you to a licensed abatement contractor if testing comes back positive.

Do you remove tile over a concrete slab without damaging it?

We use floor chisels and electric demo tools scaled to the tile and adhesive thickness to minimize slab damage. Some scarring is inherent to tile removal — especially with thick mortar beds. We assess the slab condition after removal and include any grinding or skim-coat repair needed to bring it back to a flat, bondable surface.

Can you remove glue-down hardwood or LVP?

Yes. Glue-down hardwood and LVP require more work than floating floors — the boards have to be pried up and the adhesive addressed separately. We price this as a line item because the labor and time are significantly different from pulling floating laminate.

What do you do with cutback (black) mastic?

Cutback adhesive was commonly used under resilient flooring through the 1980s and frequently contains asbestos. Grinding it generates hazardous dust. Our standard approach is to encapsulate rather than remove — skim-coating over it with a product designed to bond over existing mastic. We discuss this with you and the new flooring manufacturer before demo begins.

Is furniture moving included?

Light furniture moving can be included as a line item. We do not move large appliances, pianos, pool tables, or items that require disconnecting plumbing or gas — those need to be arranged separately before our crew arrives.

Do you handle removal-only jobs, or does removal require a new floor install?

We take removal-only jobs. If you're getting new flooring installed by someone else or are in the middle of a larger renovation, we can remove and haul the old floor and leave the substrate in a stated condition ready for whoever comes next.
