Overview

Built for Buildings That
Can't Slow Down.

Laminate gets a bad reputation when it's installed poorly — hollow spots from an uneven subfloor, joints that open up at the seams, or transitions that never quite fit. ValorCraft installs laminate the same way we install any other floor: substrate flattened first, layout planned for the room, joints staggered properly, and expansion gaps respected at every wall and fixed object. Done right, a quality laminate holds up for years and reads as a clean, modern finish — not a budget floor that shows its age in six months.

  • Subfloor leveled to manufacturer tolerance before the first plank is clicked
  • Underlayment selected to match the product spec — foam, cork, or pre-attached
  • Expansion gaps maintained at all walls, transitions, and fixed obstacles
  • Transitions, reducers, and quarter round fitted as part of the install

What's Included

Full Commercial Scope —
Demo To Punch List.

One contract, one crew. Substrate prep, install, transitions, and base — everything that touches the floor stays under our scope.

  • Floating Laminate Installation

Click-lock floating install with correct underlayment type for the product and substrate — rows staggered, end joints offset per manufacturer's minimum, and consistent expansion gap maintained throughout.

  • Subfloor Preparation

High spots ground, low areas filled with floor patch, squeaky boards secured, and flatness verified to 3/16" over 10 feet before any laminate is unboxed.

  • Underlayment Selection

Foam, cork, or combination underlayment chosen based on the laminate spec, subfloor type, and whether radiant heat is present — never just whatever's on the truck.

  • Transitions & Reducers

T-moldings at doorways, reducers to tile or carpet, end caps at sliding doors, and stair nosings where laminate meets a step — all fitted in a finish that coordinates with the floor.

  • Quarter Round & Base Shoe

Paint-grade quarter round or shoe molding installed to cover the expansion gap at baseboards — coped at inside corners, mitered at outside corners, nailed to the base not the floor.

  • Door Casing Undercuts

Door casings and jambs undercut with a pull saw or multi-tool so the laminate slides cleanly underneath — no notching around the casing profile that leaves a gap.

  • Demo & Haul-Off

Existing carpet, vinyl, or laminate removed and hauled off site — tack strip and staples pulled, subfloor assessed and prepped before new material goes down.

Why ValorCraft

The Commercial Standard
PMs Keep Calling Back.

Veteran-owned discipline applied to commercial flooring — clean schedules, accurate scopes, and crews that close out the punch list the first time.

  • Flat First, Then Install

Laminate over a wavy subfloor flexes at the joints, wears unevenly, and starts clicking underfoot within months. We flatten before we install — it's not optional.

  • Right Underlayment for the Spec

Using the wrong underlayment voids the manufacturer's warranty and causes the floor to feel spongy or noisy. We match the underlayment to what the product sheet requires.

  • Expansion Gaps That Hold

We maintain expansion gaps at every wall and obstacle throughout the install — not just in the open field. Laminate that doesn't have room to move buckles at the seams when humidity changes.

  • In-House Crews, No Shortcuts

Same team from measure to punch list. No subcontractors who've never seen your space showing up to rush through 800 square feet before lunch.

  • Veteran-Owned Transparency

If we open the subfloor and find a problem that wasn't visible during the site walk, we call you before we decide. No surprise charges at the end of the job.

  • Piedmont Triad Coverage

Serving homeowners and property managers across Greensboro, High Point, Winston-Salem, and the surrounding area — including multi-room and whole-home installs.

Our Process

Five Steps. No Surprises.
Schedules That Hold.

The same process whether it's one suite or one hundred — clear scope, clean prep, phased installs, and a closed punch list.

  1. 01

    Measure & Site Walk

We measure the space, check the subfloor, note transitions to adjacent rooms, confirm the product and underlayment, and document anything that will affect prep or layout.

  2. 02

    Estimate

Line-item quote with material, subfloor prep, underlayment, installation, transitions, trim, and haul-off listed separately — no bundled numbers that hide where your money is going.

  3. 03

    Demo & Subfloor Prep

Old flooring removed if in scope; subfloor swept, flattened, and assessed; squeaks addressed before any laminate is racked for layout.

  4. 04

    Installation

Layout direction set, first row established straight, planks clicked row by row with consistent expansion gap — cuts made at walls, doorways, and all obstacles.

  5. 05

    Transitions & Trim

Reducers, T-moldings, and end caps set; quarter round installed at baseboards; door casings checked; final walk with you to confirm the finish before we leave the site.

Common Questions

Answers
Before You Ask.

Can laminate go in a bathroom or laundry room?

Standard laminate is not waterproof — prolonged standing water at seams can cause swelling and joint failure. Some products are marketed as water-resistant, but the core is still wood-fiber and will eventually be affected. For wet areas, we'd recommend LVP instead, which uses a fully synthetic core and holds up to moisture.

Does laminate work over radiant heat?

Some laminate products are approved for radiant heat up to a surface temperature limit the manufacturer specifies. The surface temperature and the warm-up rate both matter. We confirm the product's rating before installing over any radiant system — not all laminate is rated for it.

Can laminate be installed over existing flooring?

Sometimes. Over existing vinyl or tile, the surface needs to be flat and firmly bonded. Over hardwood or existing laminate, height at doorways and transitions becomes the deciding factor. We assess during the site walk and let you know whether overlay or demo is the right call.

Why does laminate click and squeak underfoot?

Clicking usually means the subfloor beneath is uneven — the plank dips slightly when you step on it and the joint flexes. Squeaking can also come from debris under the floor or the floor rubbing against a baseboard without proper expansion gap. Both are installation or prep issues, not material defects.

How long does a laminate installation take?

A single room with minimal prep typically takes one day. Whole-home installs with subfloor leveling run two to four days depending on square footage and the extent of prep work. Your estimate includes a timeline based on your specific conditions.

What's the AC rating on laminate and does it matter?

AC ratings (AC1–AC5) measure abrasion resistance. Residential spaces need at least AC3; heavy residential or light commercial should use AC4. We help you match the AC class to how the space will actually be used — a guest bedroom and a busy entryway aren't the same job.
